On Friday 23 August the sun came out for Millman’s Street Summer BBQ. Over 68 people attended the event, including volunteers from rewardStyle who came to lend a helping hand.
The kitchen team put on a great spread of sausages, burgers and vegetable kebabs (plus dessert!) and manned the outdoor BBQ.
The BBQ was in the capable hands of Millman Street team Rose and Gloria
Millman Street Community Centre (part of HCA) has a packed activity schedule for the over 55’s and a wide range of services – encouraging healthy living and bringing people together. From community events to Tai Chi and flower arranging to a daily lunch club and a provision of more intensive support for those with greater need.
Team leader Rachele from rewardStyle explains how they heard about Millman Street and why they got in touch to volunteer:
“Our company has two volunteer days a year that we wanted to take advantage of, so I told my colleagues about Millman Street. I had been volunteering here myself a couple of times for Sunday Socials and knew it would be a great place to come.
Eight of us came down from our rewardStyle offices in Old Street. It has been our first company volunteering day for a while – we have had such a welcoming experience. My colleagues are really enjoying themselves and friendships are being made with the guests as we speak!”

The event finished with a raffle and a lot of smiling faces leaving to enjoy the long Bank Holiday weekend.
A big thank you to rewardStyle and the Millman Street team for making the day a success.
